Alkaline earth metals

Alkaline earth material is any element that you can find in the second column of the periodic table for example: beryllium (Be), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), radium (Ra).

Atomic radius

Moving from the top to the bottom of the column in group 2 will increase the number of shells because every row has a level and as you move from a level to another level the shells and electrons increase.

Location on the periodic table:

This group is located as the second group in the periodic table because every time in the outer shell you are left with 2 electrons.

Abundance on Earth:

As we know every element on earth has a higher chance to appear then any other metal the most common elements in the group starts with magnesium because its found by a chance of 50% in the human bones so that makes it the 11th coon element on this earth. calcium on the other hand is also one of the most common elements that appears and the reason behind that that its found in dairy products like milk, cheese,etc…. which plays and effective part of helping the human bones to grow taller and stronger.

Reactivity:

This group is high in reactivity for example they will explode if they are exposed to water but though they have a high reactivity but still not as high from metals in group 1 which are the alkali metals.
